Steven and I were just talking, with respect to photography, what season was our favorite. Fall and spring were front runners with winter and summer falling slightly behind. For us, the temperature and weather conditions had more to do with it than the opportunity to capture wonderful images. So, let’s talk about summer.
Summer is a curse and a blessing in the South. Some of the downsides are heat, bugs, and large crowds. However, summer provides some wonderful photography experiences.
· We love wildflowers that bloom along rustic fences and barns on country roads. Queen Anne’s Lace is in its glory.
· Waterfalls are in their prime with the emerald glow of moss-covered rocks in and around them.
· Meadow grasses and trees are at their best.
· Clouds are full and majestic and make for more interesting skies in landscape images.
· Beaches offer opportunities to put people in the frame enjoying the outdoors.
· Fireflies are out at twilight and provide unique compositions using long shutter speeds.
· Fourth of July fireworks are always fun to capture.
· Pre-Covid outdoor events like framer’s markets, outdoor music venues, concerts, festivals, and parades provided numerous opportunities to photograph people having fun.
· Travel photography – beach or mountain and all in between.
While this is not the ideal summer this year, we hope you will enjoy it and be safe.
