“There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you and there are times to go out into the world to find such a thing for yourself”. Lemony Snicket.

Steven and I have been very busy since moving into our new home in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. No matter how easy a move will be, which this wasn’t, or how quickly things will get done, which they didn’t, there is always something time consuming about moving.

Occasionally, when we would get cabin fever, we carved out a little time to go exploring. So out we would go cameras in hand. The mountains around us kept presenting us with beautiful, even stunning, wildflower displays. Vibrant wild azaleas in shades of yellow, orange, and pink accompanied equally vibrant Catawba Rhododendrons, the showgirls of the rhododendron family. Soon after, delicate pink mountain laurel filled the forests and later the softer pink Rosebay Rhododendrons took their place. Now that summer with its sun and heat have taken over, we are finding arrangements of roadside wildflowers along the Blue Ridge Parkway that would be the envy of any florist.

The picture above is of wild blueberries taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway by Steven.

The picture below was taken by me on the Parkway.
