The Impressionists were a part of a new art movement originating in Paris mainly during the late 1800s…think Monet, Renoir, Degas and in the US, Winslow Homer. Their art took a very different form from the more structured classical standard. They used light airy colorful brush strokes and painted beautiful landscapes and unstructured scenes of everyday life. As a photographer, their work appeals to me very much. One of my favorite paintings is in the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art in DC is titled “Woman with a Parasol”, a painting Monet made of his wife and son.
The above picture is one I took near Moses Cone Manor.
