Ode to Spring

I have always loved spring.  As a child, after the Christmas holidays, the dark months of winter were long and dull, not even Valentines Day could redeem them.  Then came spring.  The days began to grow longer, and the outside was more inviting. The earth was coming alive with fresh smells and beautiful colors, and summer vacation was right around the corner.

This year, we missed our annual spring trip to Charleston due to Steven’s eye surgery. The good news is that his eye is healing beautifully, and we have been able to enjoy spring close to home at Biltmore Estate and Gardens in Asheville, North Carolina.  Right now, the gardens and grounds are truly beautiful.

As Steven’s eye improves, we will be able to explore more areas and resume our normal routine.

The picture above was taken by me on the grounds of Biltmore.

The picture below was taken by Steven in the conservatory at Biltmore.
