Life Can Throw Complications at You in the Blink of an Eye

This past Tuesday, Steven and I had planned to be heading to Charleston, South Carolina to photograph the beautiful spring blooms, birds, and beaches over a 14-day period. Last year, when we went, I was just beginning to get around after a herniated disc in my back and Steven had recently torn the meniscus in his knee. We were pumped to be going this year in much better shape.
Saturday, Steven woke up with an obstruction in his eye that quickly worsened to total blindness in that eye. We were stunned at how quickly this progressed. Tuesday, he had surgery in Asheville to reattach his retina. Needless to say, our trip was cancelled, and we will be home until his eye heals.
Life can throw complications at you in the blink of an eye (pun intended).
The picture at the top is one Steven took in Charleston in March of last year.
The picture below represents what that same view looks like through his eye now. All hopes are that it continues to heal and his sight in that eye returns to normal.
