Apples, pumpkins, hayrides, corn mazes and cooler weather, what’s not to like?
We have been semi-residing in the charming mountain town of Hendersonville for the last few months. Hendersonville’s nickname is “The City of Four Seasons”, but I think it should be Appleville. The valley around this delightful town is full of apple orchards, some with pick your own options. A few years ago, a local friend told us that this time of the year the air smells like apples. It’s true! I think most of the orchards have stands that sell apples, some sell produce, and many have cute little decorative/fun items. You can also find delicious apple cider and fried apple pies. The really “go all out” stands have hayrides and corn mazes. The apple picture, above, is from Justus Orchards.
This year, after checking out the apple orchards, I was on a mission to find a pumpkin patch. I’ve been to some where they have been defoliated, leaving the pumpkins easy pickings, but I wanted to find one where the pumpkins were still on the vine. Just my luck, there is one less than 10 miles from where we are living. The management was kind enough to allow me to walk around the field and take some pictures. The sun was quite bright, so shooting conditions weren’t perfect, but I had a great time.
The picture, below, came from The Pumpkin Patch.
Just to keep it real, Hendersonville is also home to a number of really great breweries, wineries, and a cute downtown shopping scene.
I’m trying to be fair and check them all out!
