Not too long from now, seasonal changes will begin in the higher elevations of the Blue Ridge Mountains near our home. For several weeks, this color will gradually make its way down the mountains and into the valleys. While I am really looking forward to cooler temperatures, Saturday college football games, and pumpkins everywhere, what I really love are the beautiful yellows, oranges and reds decorating the trees. When we moved to the area last year, we were fortunate to see this daily. From what I understand, last year was an exceptional one for brilliant color.

Predicting when and where color will hit is subject to the whims of Mother Nature. There are so many factors that come into play….dry summer, wet summer, unexpected freezes late in the spring, and current temperatures. Last year, I followed an interactive fall color map at Explore Asheville. They did a nice job of showing where color was in the area. www.exploreasheville.com

We, also, are making a change this fall. Steven and I have had our website, The Illuminated Lens, for over three and a half years. Our website is being rebranded to reflect our move and presence in this area of western North Carolina. Our new name is Pisgah Forest Photography.

The above picture is one I took on the trail to Craggy Garden Overlook. Fall color is coming….change is almost in the air.
